Physical and Mechanical Properties and Morphology of Mixtures of High Impact Polystyrene with Homopolystyrene

HIPS obtained by means of graft copolymerization of styrene with rubber was mixed with homopolystyrene in different apparatus: in industrial and laboratory extruders, and in plastic mixers of the Banbery type. While mixing in extruders, physical and mechanical properties of the mixture got worse to a lesser degree than by diluting HIPS with polystyrene: when homopolystyrene was added in a small quantity, physical and mechanical properties got even better.
