Stuart highway: drainage aspects

1983
The South Australian section of the stuart highway, between port augusta and the Northern Territory border, is a designated national highway, with design requirements specified by the federal government. This requires that all bridge and culvert waterways be designed to a 50- year recurrence interval standard. The new highway passes through terrain which is generally arid but subject to infrequent and at times high intensity rainfall.
