Kinetic coefficients of nuclear matter

1979
The Chapman-Enskog method for the Boltzmann relativistic kinetic equation is used to calculate the kinetic coefficients (the bulk and shear viscosities and the heat conductivity) of nuclear matter in the high-temperature region where the transport processes are determined by the interaction of real particles and degeneracy may be neglected. Both neutron matter and nuclear matter with various isotopic compositions are examined. The effect of the presence of pions on the kinetic coefficients of neutron matter is investigated, but only at such low pion concentrations that the ..pi pi.. interaction may be neglected. The mean free path of a nucleon in nuclear matter is calculated.
