Structural Investigations of Amorphous Iron-Germanium Alloys by EXAFS
1984
We present the amplitudes and the interatomic distance results returned by one shell fitting of EXAFS data obtained at both the iron and germanium K absorption edges from a-Fex Ge1-x, alloys, with 0.0≤x≤0.72. The first shell bond lengths determined for a-feGe2 are found to be about 0.15 Angstroms shorter than corresponding distances in c-FeGe2. This difference may be due to a true decrease in the average first neighbor bond length in the amorphous material or may result from an asymmetric broadening of this shell relative to that in the crystal.
