novel for detecting bladder cancer and / or inflammatory conditions of the bladder marker

2011
A method for detecting bladder cancer, comprising: (i) providing a urine sample; (Ii) detecting the levels of the marker gene human neutrophil receptor B Interleukin 8 (IL8RB) in association with markers for bladder cancer (BTM) genes in said sample wherein the BTM genes comprise the cell division cycle 2, G1 to S and G2 to M (CDC2), midkine (neurite growth-promoting factor 2) (MDK), homeobox A13 (HOXA13), and binding protein insulin-like growth factor type 5 (IGFBP5); and (iii) in which the presence of cancer is established by comparing levels IL8RB and BTM genes with levels in normal patients and / or patients with bladder cancer and / or patients with inflammatory condition of the bladder, and to establish whether the patient has bladder cancer, wherein an increase in levels of BTM genes, without an increase in the level of IL8RB, is indicative that the patient has bladder cancer, and wherein an increase in the level of IL8RB is indicative that the patient has an inflammatory condition of the bladder.
