Spectacled flying-fox

In Australia the Spectacled Flying-fox appears to be the only rainforest specialist among the mainland flying-foxes. Rather than focus its attention on eucalypt flowers it is primarily frugivorous and plays an integral role in rainforest regeneration. Camps of Spectacled Flying-Foxes are rarely located further than 6 kilometers from rainforest, and this species is tolerant of higher humidity than the other three mainland species. Consequently, its distribution pattern in Australia is restricted to north-eastern Queensland, following almost exactly that of the rainforests of the region.
