To keep the incidence of complications following implantation of cardiac pacemaker as low as possible, the following guidelines have proved useful: implantation under sterile conditions by an experienced surgeon, routine use of the left cephalic vein and subpectoral placement of the generator, technically perfect connection and insulation, restriction of the choice of aggregates to a few good ones and, at the same time, caring for an adequate reserve of these aggregates.
