Thermophysical Properties of Gaseous and Liquid Methane (Teplofizicheskie Svoistva Gazoobraznogo i Zhidkogo Metana).

1970
Abstract : Methane is one of the raw materials used in modern industry for the production of hydrogen, acetylene, alcohols, natural varnishes, synthetic resins, synthetic rubber, and many other substances. To develop technological processes, data are required on thermal and thermodynamic properties of methane at high temperatures and pressures. Thus, in this book we attempt to calculate by means of a uniform method the values of thermodynamic properties of gaseous and liquid methane from the triple point up to 1000 deg k and for pressures ranging from 0.1 to 1000 bar. For this purpose, an equation of state has been set up, the constants of which are determined from experimental temperature data. The equation was derived from theoretical considerations, and describes the thermodynamic behavior of methane during a change in temperature, with the accuracy required by modern experimental methods.
