Severe Complication of Pancreatitis - Huge Retroperitoneal Abscess Formation

2007
A 69-year-old female patient presented to our emergency department with progressive abdominal fullness and pain after hospitalization for acute pancreatitis 1 month earlier. She had recently suffered from spiking fever and chills, and also had a past history of gallstones and cholecystitis. Physical examination showed a distended abdomen, especially pronounced in the epigastric region. No abdominal mass or organomegaly was palpated.
