Re-Imaging Baram Delta Fields: From Seismic Modelling to Field Implementation

2015
The paper is structured into 4 sections namely introduction, full wavefield feasibility study, seismic data acquisition and conclusion. Introduction section illustrates the main imaging challenges over Baram Delta area in supporting EOR studies and the set of new seismic is needed and its particular criterion. Full wavefield feasibility study describe the methodology adopted in order to come up with fir-for -purpose seismic acquisition design where it illustrate the key steps in the process of making the final decision namely surface based survey design in CMP and CCP domain, 3D illumination study using ray tracing method and finally using 2D Finite difference modeling to cross checked the result. This section includes the analyses of the illumination study result. Seismic data acquisition section shows the implementation of the final parameters during seismic data acquisition phase and the associated challenges viz. facilities, barges, drilling, VSP etc. as well as demonstrate the data quality, especially the low frequency component of acquired data that are deemed able to meets the imaging challenges. In conclusion, authors tries to demonstrate the importance of seismic modeling and survey design in meeting the complex challenges over Baram delta area.
