Influence of mild hypothermia on serum IL-2,IL-6 and α-TNF levels in patients with acute stroke

2007
Objective:To explore the influence of mild hypothermia on serum IL-2,IL-6 and α-TNF levels and its clinical significance.Methods:Thirty-six patients with acute stroke were divided into mild hypothermia group and routine group. The serum levels of IL-2,IL-6 and α-TNF on the first(d1),third to fifth(d3-5),fourteenth(d14)day after hospitalization were monitored and compared between the two groups. The patients' NIHSS on d14 and the mortality were recorded. Results:The serum levels of IL-2,IL-6 and α-TNF of both groups on d1,d3-5 and d14 were higher than those of the normal group(P0.01).The serum levels of IL-2 and IL-6 in patients treated with mild hypothermia on d3-5 and d14 were lower than those of routine group(P0.01 and P0.05).NIHSS of patients with mild hypothermia treatment on d14 was lower than that of routine group(P0.001),and mortalities were 31.3%and 45.0%,respectively.There was no distinct difference between them(P0.05).Conclusions:Mild hypothermia treatment can decrease the serum levels of IL-2 and IL-6 in patients with acute stroke and inhibit the inflammatory response so that the cerebral cells can be protected.
