Cancer Research in the People's Republic of China and the United States of America: Epidemiology, Causation and New Approaches to Therapy

ABSTRACT This book is a collection of papers presented by selected American and Chinese investigators at the first Bilateral Conference on Cancer Research in the People's Republic of China and the United States, which was held at Columbia University on the fifth anniversary of the opening of the university's cancer center and the Julius Armand Hammer Health Sciences Center.These articles, for the most part, are reviews of ongoing or published work in the subject areas of special interest to the authors, for which, however, there also exists a strong bilateral interest and potential for collaborative research. In this sense, the meeting itself was probably of paramount importance. Nevertheless, the collection of articles does provide a useful perspective on cancer research in the United States and China. The references to the Chinese literature, as well as to the relevant western literature, which are included with all but one of the articles,
