Rotary kiln for the solar decomposition of zinc sulfate

1981
A rotating kiln has been built for tests coupling the solar central receiver at White Sands, New Mexico with the Zinc Sulfate Subcycle as part of a study on the thermochemical production of hydrogen from water. The kiln has been specially designed to help overcome some of the problems associated with using solar energy to heat substances with poor absorptivities and will be used to study the advantages of using solar thermal energy to decompose zinc sulfate.
