2015
after they were aware of being monitored. Results: Baseline PDRs and ADRs were higher among gastroenterologists compared to surgeons (p Z 0.008 and 0.004, respectively). Following transparency, PDR and ADRs among gastroenterologists increased from 42.6 and 25.5 to 53.8 and 32.0 per 100 colonoscopies (p Z 0.0004 and 0.0024), respectively. PDR and ADR did not signifiantly improve among surgeons after transparency, although, the total number of surgeons and number of exams per surgeon was much lower than that of gastroenterologists. There was a trend toward increasing mean scope WT among surgeons after transparency, but this did not reach statistical significance. Conclusions: Transparency of endoscopist quality metrics such as PDR, ADR, and WT can lead to increased overall effectiveness of colorectal cancer (CRC) screening programs.
