Surgical correction of postpneumonectomy syndrome by intrapleural expandable prosthesis in a child

2004
We report a case of postpneumonectomy syndrome in a 10-year-old boy operated on for right-sided destroyed lung 1 year previously. The treatment involved the insertion of saline-filled expandable prosthesis in the postpneumonectomy cavity. A favorable outcome was observed. We think that an intrapleural inflatable prosthesis has several advantages for postpneumonectomy syndrome seen in childhood. q 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
