A V-BLAST-Based Cooperative MIMO Transmission Scheme for Heterogeneous Wireless Sensor Networks

The cooperative multiple input multiple output (CMIMO) technique provides an energy-efficient transmission scheme for energy-constrained wireless sensor networks. However, classical CMIMO-based transmission schemes are designed for homogeneous networks, which fail to take full advantage of the heterogeneity among sensor nodes, shortening the network stable time. In this work, an energy-efficient V-BLAST-based cluster-head cooperative MIMO transmission scheme is proposed for heterogeneous wireless sensor network. In order to maximize the network stable time, this work develops energy models to obtain directly the optimal network parameters. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can improve the energy efficiency and prolong the network stable time in comparison with existing transmission schemes.
