Carcinoma basocelular: complicación poco frecuente de la úlcera por hipertensión venosa

2002
Summary Introduction Neoplastic degeneration of an ulcer caused by venous hypertension is a complication described in the literature as being infrequent. Of the two histological types which may develop this malignant form the basocellular carcinoma is less common than the squamous cell form. Clinical case We report the case of a venous ulcer which became complicated by basocellular carcinoma in a man of 86years old. This resolved after surgical removal together with segmental venesection. We review the literature, analyzing discordances in the association ofvenous ulcer and neoplasia.
