Plastinierte P 35-Gehirnschnitte des Hundes: eine Basis für die klinische Untersuchung mit modernen bildgebenden Verfahren

2003
P 35 plastic-embedded, transparent serially sectioned slices from the canine brain were compared with cross-sections, made with the commonly used techniques and computed tomograms. Brains of two Beagles at the age of seven months were cut into 4 mm coronal and sagittal slices and thereafter plastinated with epoxy resin Biodur P35. Survey photographs were taken and documented by computer. In contrast to S 10 and E 12 slice plastinations, located at the Institute of Anatomy at the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna, P 35 sections show an excellent differentiation of gray and white matter and provide detailed information on the striate body. To improve appreciation of their three-dimensional topography, two illustrations of the striate body were prepared. Compared with S 10 and frozen sections the P 35 slices were semitransparent, hard, dry, odourless and durable. The brain slices enable a clearer understanding of anatomical structures within CT- and MRI-images.
