Analysis of Augmented Course Delivery and Assessment of Undergraduate Computer Engineering Programming Courses with the Use of ICT

This research makes an effort to explore the use of Online Courses as a tool to augment traditional course delivery as well as an effective assessment of student performance for programming languages. The experience and findings of an effort to use two online courses on open-source platforms offered at various engineering institutions across the country for augmenting course delivery and evaluation for an undergraduate- and postgraduate-level course on programming in C language are studied. The hypothesis proposed in this work is that Online Courses can effectively override conventional mode of classroom delivery, i.e., classroom lecturing or Chalk & Talk method, and simultaneously could be used for students’ formative and summative assessment over the period of course delivery to keep a check on the attainment of the learning outcomes of the course. The researchers have attempted to elaborate on the methodology adopted for the utilization of the Online Courses in this paper. The purpose of student engagement practice for programming and effective evaluation of student performance is well attained by augmenting the course delivery and assessment with the help of Online Courses modules.
