Synthesis and Characterization of Pt3Co@Pt Nanocomposites Using Banana Peel Extract as Novel Surfactants
2015
The authors describe the preparation of a novel core-shell Pt3Co@Pt nanocomposite. Banana peel extract (BPE) was selected as surfactant. FTIR showed the presence of carboxyl, amine, and hydroxyl groups in the extract. XRD analysis confirmed the average size of Pt3Co@Pt nanocomposites around 15 nm, which allowed the assumption of the role of PBE surfactant. H2PtCl6 tended to be reduced to Pt atom by hydrogen absorbed on the surface of Pt3Co core seeds. The nanoparticles (NPs) were characterized by UV-vis, TEM, and XRD. After heating treatment, the crystal structure changed from the face centered cube (fcc) to the face centered tetragonal (fct).
