Importance of CT Scan in Fragility Fracture of the Pelvis

2020
The appearance of fragility fractures of the pelvic ring is most often due to low-intensity trauma. These types of fractures can occur without trauma, especially in patients with osteoporosis. The purpose for this study was to highlight the importance of CT-scan in fragility fracture of the pelvis. In our study we included a number of 103 patients who presented between December 2016 - December 2019 at our hospital, with pelvic fractures, all over 65 years of age. The mean age of all patients was $72.12 \pm 6.16$ years. Plain X-ray is not sufficient for a complete and accurate diagnosis of fragility fracture of the pelvis. Posterior lesions cannot be determined without the use of CT-scan.
