Locked plates for proximal tibial fractures.

2006
: Proximal tibial fractures are complex and serious injuries that can result from direct high-energy trauma or indirect low-energy trauma. Many injuries involve the articular surface, and because of their proximity to the knee joint, deforming forces can create instability and malalignment. Furthermore, accessing the articular surface and fracture site can further compromise already precarious soft-tissue injuries. Treatment of these injuries is challenging, and treatment options can be controversial.
