Designing social networking apps on mobile devices: a participatory design experience with deaf students

This paper describes a participatory design (PD) experience with deaf students that aimed at designing a proposal of applications (apps) on mobile devices for social networks. Based on the interface elements chosen by the participants, we present and discuss the issues of deaf people's interaction with the Facebook application on mobile devices. Facebook was the elected social network mainly because it is highly used in Brazil. For enriching the analysis, the outcomes were addressed to by the perceptions of social, shared workspace and activity, according to the model 3C (Communication, Cooperation and Coordination). As a conclusion, the requirements of social network applications for deaf people were outlined.
