Proton and deuteron NMR in amorphous TiCuDx

1988
Abstract NMR relaxation rates and line shapes have been measured for protons and deuterons in a-TiCu(D, H) x between 4 and 500 K. Results are compared with those in corresponding crystalline samples. Relaxation is dominated by interaction with conduction electrons below 200 K. Distinctly different activation energies in different temperature intervals are observed for diffusional relaxation of both deuteron and proton above 200 K. Effects of annealing and recrystallization have been examined. The alloy a-TiCuD 1.4 is more easily recrystallized than is the corresponding hydride.
