Traffic safety monitoring system and method

A traffic safety monitoring system operates in a monitoring device of a means of transportation. The system comprises an obtaining module, a determining module and a warning module, wherein the obtaining module is used for obtaining traffic parameters of the means of transportation through sensing equipment in communication connection with the monitoring device, and the sensing equipment is installed on a groove of a hub of a wheel of the means of transportation; the determining module is used for comparing the obtained traffic parameters with preset traffic parameters and determining whether traffic safety hazards occur to the means of transportation at present; and the warning module is used for sending out a warning signal when the effect that the traffic safety hazards occur to the means of transportation is determined. The invention further provides a traffic safety monitoring method. By means of the traffic safety monitoring system and method, the traffic safety of the means of transportation can be monitored and enhanced.
