The method comprises the steps that the sulfate slag and the red mud are mixed with a reducing agent so as to obtain a mixed material; roasting is carried out on the mixed material so as to obtain a reduced iron product; the reduced iron product is separated so as to obtain iron powder. By the utilization of the method, the two metallurgical solid waste resources, namely the red mud and the sulfate slag are utilized comprehensively, so that the iron product with good indexes is obtained.
