Method for locating single-phase earth fault of generator stator winding

2011
The invention discloses a method for locating a single-phase earth fault of a generator stator winding. The method comprises the following steps of: (1) collecting three-phase voltages of a generator terminal voltage transformer to work out a self-produced zero-sequence voltage; (2) calculating base wave amplitude values of the three-phase voltages and the self-produced zero-sequence voltage, and comparing the magnitudes of the three-phase voltages, wherein the phase with the lowest voltage is an earth fault phase; and (3) calculating a transitional earth resistance value of the earth fault phase to obtain a location relationship between an earth fault place and a neutral point, thereby determining an earth fault location. The method dispenses with injection type stator earth-fault protection and only needs the three-phase voltages of the generator, and then the fault location can be calculated; and the method has the advantages of simplicity for operation, high efficiency and convenience for field fault examination.
