Clinical Analysis on the Surgical Treatment for Thoracolumbar Tuberculosis by Posterior Debridement and Pedicle Screw Fixation

2011
Objective:To evaluate the clinical effects of treatment for patients of thoracolumbar tuberculosis by debridement, bone graft, and pedicle screw fixation via posterior body incision. Methods:All 42 patients of thoracolumbar tuberculosis by debridement, bone graft, and pedicle screw fixation via posterior body incision were followed-up regularly. Results:All operation were successful, and the incision were healing completely. All grafted bone was fused completely.Neurologic function recovered to a 1-2 degree in Frankel grading.A certain degree of kyphosis correction achieved after surgery. There was no recurrence in patients with tuberculosis. Conclusion:The method of debridement, bone graft, and pedicle screw fixation via posterior body incision for the treatment of thoracolumbar tuberculosis is easy, effective, and safe.
