99mTc-MIBI radioimmunoguided surgery therapy for lymph node metastasis of lung cancers: a preliminary study.

2009
Objective To evaluate the clinical significance of 99mTc-MIBI radioimmunoguided surgery for pulmonary tumor patients with lymphatic metastases. Methods Twenty-seven patients with malignant tumors and five patients with benign lesions were collected and intraoperatively radiological examination was performed 1 h after the injection of 999mTc-MIBI using a handheld gamma probe. We detected targets of lymph node as well as normal tissue and then all the specimens were diagnosed by routine histology. Results As for the detection of lymphatic metastasis,in vivo the sensitivity of RIGS was 79.37%,the specificity 87.72% and the accuracy 84.75%,in vitro the sensitivity of RIGS was 93.65%,the specificity 94.94% and the accuracy 94.35%.in vivo the T/NT for the positive lymph nodes were1.89±0.54(n = 64) and the negative lymph nodes were1.24±0.41(n = 113),while in vitro the T/NT for the positive lymph nodes were2.86±0.76(n = 65)and the negative lymph nodes were1.65±0.59(n = 112).There was significant difference between positive and negative lymph node both in vivo and in vitro.(t = 8.36,P 0.01;t = 11.05,P 0.01).Conclusion RIGS with 99mTc-MIBI may indicate tumors and their infiltrative lesions directly and objectively for pulmonary tumor.
