Modified Schrödinger Equation and tight-binding approximation for electrons in crystals

1966
The method of the Modified Schrodinger Equation is used to formulate the problem of calculating energies and eigenfunctions for an electron in a crystal. A new version of the tight-binding approximation is presented, which is used to calculate the energies of 3d electrons in nickel (face-centred cubic) and iron (body-centred cubic).
