UV-VIS Spectroscopy in the Characterization of Clay Mineral Surfaces

1973
Abstract UV-vis absorption spectroscopy provides sensitive in situ monitoring of chemical and physical properties of clay surfaces at various degrees of wetness, i.e. suspensions, slurries or dry films. Documented applications of the technique are discussed, including adsorption, protonation, and surface photolysis.
