The World Consciousness of Chinese Historians in the Early 20th Century

2007
The early 20th century was a key period for Chinese historians to further develop their "world consciousness".These historians either tried to introduce Chinese history to the world while explaining Chinese history according to the modes and theory of the development of Western history or explored the particularity of Chinese history and culture on the basis of comparing China with the West.Their world consciousness has influenced and shaped modern Chinese historiography as regards historical standpoint, theory, methods, language, genres, teaching and so on.The reasons for the development of their world consciousness are the continuous influence of the West on Chinese historiography, the change of Chinese historians' world view and their patriotism.
