EFFECT OF 10 CLASSES SWIMMING COURSE ON SWIMMING SKILLS INITIAL STATE AT THE POLICE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

2020
Abstract: The aims of research were to determine initial state of swimming skills at the Police University student of both ganders and effect of 10 classes swimming course on swimming skills. Research consisted of initial and final testing (time to swim over 25 meters distance in pool by any of swimming techniques) with 10 swimming classes between. The total sample consisted of 255 subjects (160 male and 95 female). Initial testing showed for male: 25 (15.63%) belonged to non-swimmer group, 78 (48.75%) to half-swimmer group (GMHS) and 57 (35.62%) to good-swimmers group (GMGS); for female: 14 (14.74%) belonged to non-swimmers group, 72 (75.79%) to half-swimmer group (GFHS) and 9 (9.47%) to good-swimmer group (GFGS). ANOVA results showed statistically significant differences in swimming time between good-swimmer and half-swimmer groups for both ganders (F=27.505, p=0.000 for male and  F=27.657, p=0.000 for female). The results of t-test after the swimming course showed that all groups achieved statistically significant better swimming times: GMHS-F=3.444, p=0.001; GMGS-F=3.594, p=0.001; GFHS-F=12.373 and GFGS-F=4.054, p=0.004, p=0.000, while results of ANOVA showed remaining of statistically significant differences in swimming time between good-swimmer and half-swimmer groups (F=51.508, p=0.000 for male and  F=24.764, p=0.000 for female).
