Improved Building Airtightness

2020
Uncontrolled air transfer through enclosures markedly increases the energy required to heat, cool, control humidity, and regulate indoor climate conditions in buildings. This chapter discusses several approaches to improving a building’s air-tightness (i.e., minor renovation projects, major renovation projects, or energy-focused projects), air barrier systems and materials, and quality assurance/quality control for the air barrier system.
