The Development Pattern of Chinese Creative Industries:A Global Value Chain Perspective

2011
According to creative economy reports which are the results of an initiative put forward by UNCTAD,China has been the biggest exporter of creative goods in the world. The fact is that China merges with global division system and global value chain owing to its low labor cost and lies in manufacturing sector with low added value and meager profit margin. With the limited bargaining power in shaping contracts,China manufacturers can not control the price of creative goods in international market, and have no decision on cultural connotation of creative goods.Government should give some push to promote competitiveness in Chinese creative industries:balancing economic value and spiritual benefit in the development of creative industries, being much more tolerant of creative people and integrating the internal creative resources to avoid being overly dependent on multinational corporations.
