L'Épître aux Hébreux : Épître de l'initiation chrétienne? (Lecture d'Afrique)

1999
The cultural context influences our reading of the Bible. For example, to read the Letter to the Hebrews from the Western or the African contexts may bring to different results as far as understanding and interpretation is concerned. Here the author is using the initiation point of view in order to interpret the central language of the Letter to the Hebrews, a language that rests on the derivatives of the Greek root τeλοζ (telos). He proposes the hypothesis that a thematic structure subtends the whole Letter. Therefore, it is read as a continual criss-crossing of three initiations : that of Israel, that of Christ and finally that of the Christians.
