Optimization method for signal integrity of automotive LAN

2011
To implement a local area network (LAN) on an automobile, the combination of wire lengths must be designed properly to secure signal integrity of the communication signal. Optimization algorithms can be effective design tools for this purpose. In this paper, first, a modeling method for an automotive LAN is provided. Using the model, optimization algorithms are applied to calculate the desirable combination of wire lengths in the network to secure the signal integrity at every communication node. Two optimization algorithms—simulated annealing (SA) and differential evolution (DE)—are applied. Evaluations for the optimization process as well as the obtained solutions are provided. The robustness and limitations of the optimization solution are also examined.
