Evidence-based nursing practice for one neonatal shivering during physical cooling

2015
Objective To provide a reasonable processing scheme for physical cooling of one high fever neonate by evidence-based nursing. Methods According to PICO principle, we introduced a question and changed it to the form of retrieval conveniently, and retrieved Cochrane library, PubMed, and VIP information-in the form of Chinese science and technology periodical database. Results We totally retrieved physical cooling of 1 systematic literature and 1 clinical practice guideline. According to retrieval result and child′s disease′s conditions, shivering children, who stayed in thermal spike, would be stopped using physical cooling and be started to keep warm; when the temperature decreased, warm sponge bath did not utilize and colder water bag was enhanced its temperature between 30~36 ℃ to decrease temperature gradually. Children did not occur shivering and increased the comfort during the process of cooling. Conclusions Neonatal hyperpyrexia is not suitable to take warm sponge bath as physical cooling to decrease temperature and it should to reduce temperature gradually during the process of cooling.
