Enhancement of lipase transesterification activity by immobilization on β–cyclodextrin-based polymer

Silica–β-cyclodextrin matrices were prepared by the sol–gel technique using different ratios of inorganic/organic compounds. The matrices showed similar properties although affect the biocatalyst performance. The best set of parameters was achieved on lipase immobilized on matrix prepared with 2.0% β-CD. The most active biocatalyst was successful applied in the transesterification of palm kernel oil.
