Tecnologias e formação de tradutores

2017
Translation memory systems and new machine translation applications have become part of the work routine of translators working with specialized texts and who provide services to the localization industry. The integration of these technologies has been promoting changes in university translation training programs, which are gradually reviewing their curricula to include tool training. This paper reports on the results of two studies carried out at two undergraduate translation programs from two Brazilian public universities. The results point to the importance of including, in translation classes, discussions that encourage the development of a critical eye on the tools used by translators, so that they may learn to value their role as negotiators of meanings in each and every work of translation
