2007
Objective To discuss the treatment of Fraser type I floating knee injuries with locking intramedullary nail through a single approach. Methods Eleven cases were operated on average 5 days after trauma. The closed reduction was achieved in 9 cases, and the limited open reduction of femoral fractures was performed in 2 patients. Results The average operative time was 100minutes.All patients were followed up from 6 to 12 months. There were no incision infections or failures of internal fixations. The average healing time of the fracture was 4 months, and ROM of the knee was 0 degree(extension) to 110 degree (flexion). The results were excellent in 6, good in 4, acceptable in 1 according to Karlstrom and Olerud′s criteria. Conclusion The technique of GSH nail combined with tibial intramedullary nail through a single approach is a good recommendation for the treatment of Fraser type I floating knee injuries.
