Effect of aluminum 3-oxo-acetyl-11-deoxoglycyrrhetinate on gastric ulcer induced by acetylsalicylic acid in rats

1997
To study the preventive and therapeutic effect of aluminum 3 - oxo - acetyl - 11 deoxoglycyrrhetinate (ADA) on gastric ulcer.Method The 29 Wistar rats were divided into 4 groups, which involved negative, carbenoxolone (CN),small dose ADA (50mg/kg) and large dose ADA (100mg/kg). The effects of these drugs on gastric ulcer model were observed. Results ADA (50, 100mg/kg ) dose - dependently inhibited the gastric lesion. There was a significant difference between ADA and negative groups. Moreover, the ADA - treated rats were higher than CN-treated rats under the same dose of 100mg'·kg-1. Gastric contents analysis indicated that ADA (50 and 100mg·kg-1) signficantly decrcased the gastric acid and pepsin outputs. Conclusion The therapeutic doses of ADA can significantly inhibited the gastric ulcer induced by acetylsalicylic acid. The mechanism of ADA in preventing ulcer depended on decreasing the gastric acid and pepsin activities.
