Coordinated Control of Generator Excitation and TCSC Based on Hamilton Energy Function

2012
The coordinated control of generator excitation and FACTS device is an effective and economical measure to improve power system stability. This paper proposes a coordinate control strategy of exciter and TCSC based on generalized Hamilton theory. The dynamic of the overall conductance is introduced to represent the TCSC control effect, with which the third order generator model can be expressed as generalized Hamilton system. An energy compensation and damping injection method, with a more obvious physical meaning, is used to design the coordinated control law of excitation and TCSC. Simulation results of a practical power system demonstrate that the proposed control strategy can increase the system damping and improve the stability of the system.
