The 13CH3OH far-infrared laser: new lines and assignments

Abstract We have reinvestigated 13 CH 3 OH isotopomer of methanol as a source of far-infrared laser emissions. The far-infrared laser was optically excited by a novel CO 2 pulsed laser with peak powers up to several kW. We searched for new FIR laser lines with particular attention to lines predicted in the literature but not yet observed. In all 17 new lines have been observed and characterized, five of which were predicted in the literature. Spectroscopic assignments for four of the remaining 12 new FIR emissions have also been performed.
