The role of the administration in the process of the decisionmaking in the local self government in the Republic of Macedonia

The purpose of this paper is to understand the decision making process in the local self government in the Republic of Macedonia by putting emphasis on the role of the local administration. The work will explore the state of the local administration, the organizational structure, the qualifications, the expertise, the competence and other factors that affect the decision making process in the local government. The methodology of the research is based on quantitative analysis of questionnaires and analysis of documents relevant to the subject of the research. There are 150 completed questionnaires with employees in municipalities in Eastern region in Macedonia. Regarding the role of the administration in the decision making process, there is a need of change of the organizational structure and the inclusion of jobs that will contribute in making quality decisions. It necessity to invest in improving internal communication and transparency of information among the civil servant. It is essential for the administration to grasp the role as an important link in the process of decision making through analysis and statistics for the requirements of the citizens, the reasons for certain conditions, as well as proper guidelines to overcome the obstacles.
