Sickle Cell Trait and Fatal Exertional Heat Illness: Implications for Exercise-Related Death of Young Ddults

Abstract : Objectives: 1) Analyze specific mortality rates to characterize sickle cell trait as a risk factor for exercise-related death. 2) Examine factors important to prevent EHI among all recruits. 3) Interpret results of a controlled prospective intervention to prevent EHI on exercise-related mortality for recruits. 4) Provide practical recommendations to reduce exercise-related death in young adults with or without sickle cell trait.
