2007
The gas diffusion layers (GDL) for polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells (PEMFC) based on ther-moexpanded graphite were proposed and investigated. Synthesis methods of carbon nanofibers (CNF) of different types based on ethylene pyrolysis were developed. The methods of synthesis of electrocatalysts for PEMFC based on Pt clusters on CNF surface were developed. The catalytic activity of developed catalysts was studied vs. quantity and size of platinum clusters in a hydrogen-air fuel cell. The combination technique of gas diffusion and catalytic layers of a membrane-electrode assembly of a fuel cell was suggested using in situ carbon nanofibers growth on GDL surface with the subsequent Pt deposition.
