Comparison of Meteorological Data with Fitted Values Extracted from a Trajectory

2000
Atmospheric conditions are found by knowing only the projectile’ s trajectory and its aerodynamic coefe cients plusinitialatmosphericconditionsatgroundlevel.Thegoverningequationsarethemodie ed point-massequations, which are used to generate a test trajectory using data taken with a weather balloon. A nonlinear least-square method is used to e t the modie ed point-mass equations to the test trajectory by varying themeteorological parameters. Linear wind proe les now replace the previous constant wind proe les, and the yaw of repose is now included inthee tting procedure.A morecomplete erroranalysis ispresented. Density, temperature, and wind proe les agree well.
