Peru case study.

2000
This Peru case study offers an example of enhancing participation at the local level and demonstrates the ability to achieve nationwide impact through an alliance with a decentralized network of womens organizations. It is noted that to be able to influence programs in the communities training is needed to gain knowledge of the situation strong technical and advocacy skills and an opportunity to apply learned skills. In Peru the plan was to develop advocacy skills of local womens groups through an advocacy training program. The National Network for the Promotion of Women (RNPM) is an alliance with a decentralized network of womens organizations with branches in all of the departments in Peru. The presence of RNPM permitted the provision of training to different tiers to achieve an impact at the decentralized level throughout the country. Moreover the groups are provided with technical and financial assistance to design and conduct advocacy campaigns in support of sexual and reproductive health.
