Planning and Zoning Board Minutes

Ms. Gayle Lafferty, Planner, went over staff’s report with the Board members (attached to the original minutes). She reported that staff has reviewed the request for a variance from the provisions of Section 61.06, encroachment of side yards for single family residences, of the Code of Ordinances to allow the construction of a carport, which would encroach a maximum of five (5) feet into the minimum side setback of five (5) feet required and determined that the request does not meet the standards of review set forth in Sections 66.02 and 66.03. Staff feels that the need for the variance has been created by the homeowner’s request to construct the carport. Staff has determined that the request for variance from provisions of the Code of Ordinances has not met the standards of review for granting variances as set forth in Sections 66.02 and 66.03. Staff therefore, recommends denial of the variance.
